"…the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking and don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it."

Steve Jobs (1955 - 2011)

Since 1995, I have been in an educational institute always on the side of the learner. Now, after about 17 years of being a student, it is time to transition to the other side of the divide and take the role of the educator.
It suddenly hit me the other day that after living a life where I was always prepared and planned for the next stage in my life, I am in a position where I am predominantly stepping into the unknown. Never before have I had so many opportunities before me, but unable to truly decide where I want to go from here. It is a daunting thought that the next few years in my life might be the decider in whether or not I am satisfied with my decisions and achievements at the end of my life. I know it sounds a bit morbid, and perhaps the next few years of my life will not be the be all and end all. But I suppose that is the beauty of studying both Early Childhood and Primary education. Such a degree offers multiple opportunities and career paths. I just need to find where my passions lie. It is here that I will share another quote I love of Steve Jobs:
"...you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future…you have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, because believing that the dots will somehow connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart, even when it leads you off the well-worn path – and that will make all the difference."

Such wise words, such a bright mind...its no wonder the world is buzzing with Mac enthusiasts. I couldn't agree with him more, and it's quite simple - to be good at what you do, you must love it. Or better yet, if you love something pursue it as a career. Too often have I seen teachers that have lost passion for their jobs, and unfortunately it is painfully evident in their teaching.

Most of my favourite memories from life are drawn from my childhood. I suppose I loved the freedom and creativity that childhood allowed, and the fun that came with that. Whenever I walk into a classroom today I am hit with a scent that takes me back to my own childhood, and in moments I am reliving my own experiences in primary school.

All throughout my life I have learnt in a Catholic education system. Being a Christian, I loved that what I was learning at home and at church I was also learning at school. My faith and knowledge about my religion was nurtured in an environment that shared the same beliefs, morals, values and love for Christ. What I loved most about Catholic environments is the sense of community, love and support that is embedded throughout, which reflects Jesus’ mission and values. That is the main reason I decide to pursue my tertiary education at the Australian Catholic University, Strathfield.
